Understanding copyright is essential for anyone buying or selling photography. Since ignorance is no excuse when using a copyrighted image without the proper consent, DMLA is working diligently to provide the creative community with essential information in regards to copyright and the “fair use” doctrine. It is our hope that this section of our website will be used by buyers, sellers and educators to help spread the word about protecting the rights of the creator through copyright, particularly now in light of new technologies and laws that challenge the long-standing interpretations.
